What is the difference - CloudConnect or Prizm Content Connect?
CloudConnect lets you enable your users to view documents directly from your server, just connect to us in the Cloud. You maintain your documents on your server and remain in control. You can even add your own brand with the Personalization feature. Simply connect your documents through our server and your users can see documents in a viewer with full rights management around them.

Prizm Content Connect's AJAX document viewer lets you remain in full control of your documents with your document viewing occurring directly from your server. Purchases include the Prizm Content Connect server licenses and installation in house on your servers. Your costs include ongoing server maintenance, OS and Prizm Content Connect Server licenses, plus optional* support and upgrade costs.
* Support is strongly recommended for Prizm Content Connect SharePoint Edition.

Which product is on premise and which is off premise?
CloudConnect is a Software as a Service offering, or off premise, with annual usage fees.

Prizm Content Connect and Prizm Content Connect Plus document viewers are on premise products with standard license fees.
 

Which is faster?
Prizm Content Connect is faster, as documents are local on your server and you have full control.

In CloudConnect the document copy is downloaded to our server, rendered and then displayed in viewer. In the Prizm Content Connect, since documents are local there is no need to create a copy of the document and it is simply rendered and displayed in viewer.

Should I be concerned about security in CloudConnect service?
If you are handling secure confidential documents then you should consider an on premise solution. If you are concerned about security of your documents or you are handling mission critical information, an on premises is recommended.

We have done a lot of work with CloudConnect to promote security with your documents. 1) We never keep a copy of your documents on our servers for more than 30 minutes. Most of the time they will get deleted once a user has viewed the document. 2) You can use 256 bit SSL for all your communication with our servers. 3) You can submit all your documents and through a secure post submit call. 4) You can switch off printing, copying and saving on your documents using CloudConnect API call making it even more secure.

CloudConnect not only let's you protect your assets but it also offers a better viewing experience to your customers. For controlling, printing, and other similar functions, you will need to purchase the personalization feature of CloudConnect. The free version does not allow you to control printing, saving of documents etc.

Can I start with CloudConnect and then purchase Prizm Content Connect licenses?
Yes, but please note that the CloudConnect fee is non refundable and cannot be applied as credit towards Prizm Content Connect's document viewer license costs.



I have a small website right now, with a couple hundred users. Which option would be more suitable?
For smaller websites, with fewer users and no document security issues, CloudConnect is a better option. As your site becomes larger, you can purchase server licenses and bring everything in house. CloudConnect let's you get up and running in less than 2 minutes and you don't have to worry about a large capital investment up front.
